OU Notches Third Straight Conference Win

NORMAN - The No. 22 Oklahoma women's tennis team swept TCU 4-0 in a Big 12 showdown on Sunday, advancing to 3-1 in conference play.

The Sooners bounced back in doubles to clinch the opening point. At the top court, No. 32 Carmen and Ivana Corley held their own from start to finish, taking the ranked win 6-3 over No. 43 Yu-Chin Tsai and Helena Narmont. The No. 8 duo Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva battled back from a 4-2 deficit to claim the doubles point 6-4 against Mercedes Aristegui and Jade Otway on court two.

Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman were tied at 6-6 with Destinee Martins and Tiphanie Lemaitre on court three when play was halted.

No. 97 Carmen Corley got the team started in singles with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win on court three over Aristegui. Romana Cisovska extended OU's lead to 3-0 after defeating Helena Narmont 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 6 spot. After a back-and-forth battle, Sleeth pulled out the OU victory at the top court, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, over Lemaitre.

When play was halted, the remaining three courts were leading. No. 86 Guzman led 6-1, 5-7, 5-2 over Aristegui on court two, Emma Staker was up 2-6, 7-6 (3), 5-4 against Otway on court four and Garcia Ruiz led Tsai 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.

The Sooners will head to the West Coast and start their trip against No. 5 Pepperdine on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m. CT in Malibu, Calif. They will then make their way to San Diego, Calif., to take on San Diego on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. CT.
