FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded their time at the Island Relays Bahamas Invitational in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Saturday evening.
Field events kicked things off for the Sooners on Friday morning. Ariel Pedigo finished fourth in women's javelin throw with 139-0 (42.36m), followed by Kassidy Sani in sixth (40.80m) and Amiyah Norwood in eighth (36.88m).
Next, Abby Moore took second place in the women's hammer throw with 190-1 (57.93m), while Geraldine Udo finished third with a throw of 182-2 (55.53m).
On the men's side of the hammer throw, Ben Ryer threw for 194-1 (59.16m) to snag second place.
On the track, the women's 400-meter hurdles saw Ashonti Warner clock a personal best time of 57.38, which also sets a new program record. She was followed by Daneesha Davidson in second (57.91) and Jenna James in sixth (1:01.80).
Alyia Green finished seventh in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 56.59. On the men's side of the 400-meters, Gage Hensey ran 47.90 and finished fourth.
Next, Yazmine Wright finished third in the women's 800-meter run after crossing the finish line at 2:08.12, while Sierra Williams (2:10.41) finished third.
Isaac Barrera collected a win in the men's 800-meter run after clocking a 1:54.27.
In the women's 200-meter dash, Kennedy Blackmon finished fifth with a time of 23.71.
To finish out the day, Zarik Brown took home a win in the men's 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 21.02. He was followed by Muzuri Mattar (21.05), Josh Bour (21.35), and Nikaoli Williams (21.43) in third, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.
Saturday's competition started off with the women's 3k, where Erin O'Brien finished fifth with a time of 10:05.43.
Senior Payden Montana won the women's shot put competition with a throw of 56-4 (17.17m), while Paige Low (16.42) finished second and Abby Moore () collected sixth.
Next, Cassidy Bradshaw cleared 13-1.5 (4.00m) in the women's pole vault for first place.
The women's long jump competition saw Symone Washington claim first place with a leap of 20-4 (6.20m).
The men's shot put competition finished with Diego Trevino (18.04m) taking fifth, Tucker Smith (17.24m) claiming sixth, and Bryant Parlin (16.67m) garnering sixth.
In the 1,500-meter run, Gabi Barrera (4:40.38) and Erin O'Brien (4:45.08) finished third and sixth, respectively. On the men's side, Logan Seger (4:03.43) took home fifth and Jordan Gledhill (4:04.74) placed sixth.
The women's 4x100 relay team (Eva Kubickova, Mikayla Hayes, Lilan Henderson, and Kennedy Blackmon) ran a time of 44.50 for second place.
The men's 4x100 relay team (Zarik Brown, Josh Bour, Nikaoli Williams, Muzuri Mattar) collected a first-place finish with a time of 39.40.
Next, David Warmington ran a 14.73m in the men's 110m hurdles for second place.
In the 100m dash, Mikayla Hayes (12.14) and Eva Kubickova (12.24) finished third and fourth, respectively. On the men's side, A'lajuwan Robinson (10.80) took home fourth, Carter Cukerstein (10.85) finished fifth, and Ricky Smith (10.98) claimed eighth.
The women's discus throw saw Payden Montana finish in second place with a throw of 165-2 (50.34m), while Paige Low finished third at 156-11 (47.83m).
Sophomore Colin Caso competed in the men's 3,000m steeplechase and finished with a time of 9:50.29.
Brandon Green Jr. leaped to first place in the men's triple jump with a clearance of 51-6 (15.70m), while Kunle Akinlosotu finished third at 45-7.25 (13-90m).
Overall, the women's team won first place with a total of 169 points, while the men's side took home second with 124 points.
