Women's Golf Preview: Westbrook Invitational

NORMAN - Oklahoma women's golf will begin its spring slate on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.

The two-day, 54-hole event features College of Charleston, Denver, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Penn State, UNLV and Wisconsin. The field opens play with 36 holes on Sunday and concludes the event on Monday, Feb. 27.

OU's lineup features Kaylee Vesely, Nina Lang, Mikhaela Fortuna, Raychel Nelke and Emily Hun. Hun will make her first career appearance in the Crimson and Cream. Savannah Barber will compete as an individual.

Kaylee Vesely, Jr., Austin, Texas: Competed as an individual at the 2022 Schooner Fall Classic and the Jim West Challenge … Appeared in the OU lineup at the Illini Invitational and finished 4-over 220 ... Tied for 27th (71-72-67) and finished with a 3-under 67 to conclude the tournament … Competed as an individual four times during the 2021-22 slate … Made lone appearance in the OU lineup at the Clover Cup (T81) last season.

Nina Lang, Jr., Ingolstadt, Germany: Opened the fall slate in the lineup at the Carmel Cup ... Appeared as an individual at the Schooner Fall Classic ... Tied for 11th at the Jim West Challenge and finished with a 2-under 214 ... Competed in five events (one individual) during the 2021-22 slate … Made first appearance in the Crimson and Cream at the Schooner Fall Classic as an individual and finished T27 (6-over, 216) … Appeared in the OU lineup for the first time at the Illini Invitational (8-over 224) ... Finished her first year in the Crimson and Cream with a 74.87 stroke average.

Mikhaela Fortuna, Sr., Manila, Philippines: Opened the season in the lineup at the Carmel Cup and tied for 29th ... Led the Sooners at the Schooner Fall Classic and tied for 10th … Fired a season-low 4-under 66 to open the Schooner … Led the Sooners with a 2-under 214 at the Illini Invitational ... Concluded the fall slate with a 5-under 211 at the Jim West Challenge and tied for fourth ... Raychel Nelke, Fr., Pocola, Okla.: Opened her Sooner career in the Oklahoma lineup at the Carmel Cup ...Tied for 15th at the Schooner Fall Classic, recording a career-low 4-under 66 in the opening round … Made an appearance in the OU lineup at the Illini Invitational and Jim West Challenge ... Attended Pocola High School ... Tallied four top-10 finishes on the AJGA circuit ... Finished sixth at the Accenture NW Arkansas Junior ... Emily Hun, Fr., Macau, China: Will make her first appearance in the OU lineup at the Westbrook Invitational ... Fifty-four holes will be played over two days with 36 holes on Sunday, Feb. 26 and the final 18 holes on Monday, Feb. 27. The field will tee off at 9:30 a.m. (CT) both days.
