Women's Tennis Falls To No. 1 Texas

SEATTLE, Wash. - The No. 15 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Texas 4-2 in the consolation round of the ITA National Indoor championships on Sunday in Seattle.
The Sooners came out dominant in doubles action by claiming the opening point. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman defeated Malaika Rapolu and Marlee Zein 6-1 on court three. The No. 28 duo Carmen and Ivana Corley clinched the doubles point after taking down Charlotte Chavatipon and Nicole Khirin 6-1 at the top court.
Texas tied the match with a court-four win from Taisiya Pachkaleva over Garcia Ruiz, 6-2, 6-3 in singles. No. 83 Guzman picked up OU's only singles win at the No. 3 spot, taking the match 6-0, 6-3 over No. 69 Rapolu.
The Longhorns claimed the next three singles courts. Nicole Rivkin defeated Emma Staker, 6-2, 6-4 on court five and No. 61 Chavatipon grabbed the 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 96 Carmen Corley on court two. To clinch the match, Texas' No. 113 Zein took the 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Pisareva at the No. 6 spot.
When play was halted, Sleeth was down 6-4, 3-6, 2-3 against Khirin at the top court.

The Sooners will return home to face Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. CT at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
