Three Sooners Advance to ITA All-American Main Draw

NORMAN – On Tuesday, a trio of Sooners fought through the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships.
Dana Guzman and Florencia Urrutia secured their spots by winning three matches on Monday and Tuesday. Guzman and her partner Alina Shcherbinina advanced through in doubles qualifying after a pair of dominant performances.
Guzman won her first Tuesday match over No. 27 Sydni Ratliff (Ohio State), 6-1, 6-4, before defeating No. 71 Annabelle Xu (Virginia), 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4.
Urrutia opened Tuesday with a straight-set win over No. 48 Kelly Keller (Arkansas), 6-2, 6-3, and advanced to the main draw with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 18 Tanya Sasnouskaya (Texas).
In doubles, Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina defeated NC State's Anna Zyryanova and Sophie Abrams, 8-1, to advance to the main doubles draw.
Main draw opponents and times will be announced later on Tuesday evening.
