Barber in First, Sooners in Seventh After 36 Holes at Jim West Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sophomore Savannah Barber fired rounds of 69-65 (10-under, 134) and concluded the first 36 holes of the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club in first on Sunday. Oklahoma women's golf enters the final 18 in seventh (8-under, 568).

Barber tallied eight birdies in the second round, finishing the front nine 3-under 33 with her lone setback on the seventh hole. The Fort Worth, Texas product ended her first nine of the second round with a birdie and strung together three consecutive birdies with a pair on the 10th and 11th holes. Barber concluded the second round with five pars and back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes.

In the first 18 holes of the day, Barber dropped a stoke on the second hole and tallied two birdies in her next four holes, moving to 1-under through six. She finished the front nine 1-under 35 and moved to even after a bogey on the 11th. Barber tallied back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes and concluded the round with a birdie on the 18th.

"Savannah played solid all day, and I am proud of her performance," said Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "She has been putting so much time and effort into her game, and it is paying off."

Sophomore Isabelle Schlick joined Barber in the top 25, recording rounds of 70-73. Schlick opened the tournament with a birdie and moved to 2-under through five after a birdie on the fifth. She tallied a pair of setbacks on the seventh and eight holes and finished the front nine even par 36. Schlick recorded a bogey on the 11th and responded with back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th. She concluded her round with a birdie on No. 18.

Schlick tallied a par to open the second round and dropped a stroke after a bogey on the second. The Bad Hamburg, Germany product recorded her first birdie of the round on the third and finished the front nine 1-over 37. Schlick recorded two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine, finishing 1-over 73.

Senior Nina Lang tied for 35th and recorded rounds of 72-73 (1-over, 145). Lang tallied a birdie on the second hole to open the first day and notched her second and last birdie of the round on the 12th, moving to 1-under through 11. After a setback on the 14th, Lang tallied six consecutive pars.

The Ingolstadt, Germany product tallied three birdies in the second round. Lang recorded a birdie on her second hole and dropped a pair of strokes on the sixth and seventh holes. She moved to even with a birdie on the ninth and 1-under through 10 after a birdie on the 12th hole. Lang recorded birdies on the 13th and 15th holes and finished the day with five straight pars.

Junior Reagan Chaney and freshman Holly McLean rounded out the OU lineup, tying for 39th (2-over, 146) and finishing 69th (18-over, 162), respectively. Chaney fired a 1-under 71 to open the tournament, recording five birdies. The Ardmore, Okla., product matched her first-round birdie total in the second, stringing together three consecutive birdies starting on the 16th hole. McLean fired rounds of 76-86, recording a birdie on the third hole in the first round and an eagle on the 18th in the second.

Sophomore Gracie Mayo competed as an individual and tied for 48th (4-over, 149). Mayo tallied rounds of 74-74 and recorded three birdies.
