The 22nd-ranked Sooners hit the road this week for a pair of top-15 duals at No. 4 Iowa State and No. 15 Northern Iowa. The Sooners, who have won four straight, take on the Cyclones at 7 p.m. Friday and the Panthers at 2 p.m. Sunday.
ĀThe contest against the Cyclones will be featured on ESPN+ followed by the dual against UNI on FloWrestling. Ben Hupke and Kyven GadsonĀ will be on the call for the Iowa State dual.
ĀLast Friday night, the Sooners (7-3, 1-1 Big 12) topped No. 23 West Virginia, 18-15, highlighted by Oklahoma natives Jared Hill and Tate Picklo winning by decision victories in their first starts at McCasland. The win lifted Oklahoma to the No. 22 spot in FloWrestling's rankings.
ĀRecording a 3-1 decision win over West Virginia's Jordan Titus, No. 21 Mosha Schwartz has amassed seven straight wins.
ĀFriday's meeting between the Sooners and Cyclones marks the 100th time the programs have faced each other.Ā
ĀNo. 4 Iowa State (10-2, 3-0 Big 12) enters the dual with 14 straight wins over Big 12 opponents, and 23 wins out of its last 25 contests, with its only losses coming to No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Iowa. Nine of its starters occupy the Flo and Intermat rankings, led by No. 2 David Carr at 165 pounds. Carr won the 157-pound national title in 2021.
ĀAfter a week off, No. 15 Northern Iowa (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) carries its 34-9 win over Utah Valley into the dual on Sunday. The Panthers knocked off No. 3 Ohio State 19-13 on Dec. 19, and have only surrendered losses to No. 8 NC State and No. 9 Missouri. Senior Austin Yant enters the 165-pound bout with an untouched 13-0 record on the season.
ĀOklahoma will return home for its final two home duals of the 2022-23 season, beginning with No. 9 Missouri at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 3 and ending with Rider at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 5. Both duals will be televised on ESPN+.
