Secured a pair of wins at the Virginia Duals (Jan. 12), defeating Navy’s Jonathan Ley, 4-1, before knocking off Wisconsin’s Luke Mechler, 7-3 … Placed in three tournaments: Michigan State Open (fifth place), Reno Tournament of Champions (first place) and Southern Scuffle (third place) ... Went 18-13 on the year in his first season as a starter, going 4-3 in duals for the Sooners … Was an NCAA Qualifier at 157 pounds, winning his first match of wrestlebacks via a 7-6 decision, but dropped two bouts in the 157 pound bracket … Took 6th Place at the Big 12 Championships in his first conference tournament appearance … Claimed the first place title at the Journeymen Classic with a 10-4 sudden-victory win over Trae McDaniel (Army) and a pair of 3-2 decisions … Named to the Academic All-Big 12 team.
