OU Claims 7-0 Sweep Over UTSA

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team swept UTSA 7-0 on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center to close their season-opener weekend.

"It was great to get in here and finish off UTSA with the 7-0 victory," said head coach Nick Crowell. "It was a good match and challenge, they came in here ready to go. We had a great crowd out today and Sooner Nation really showed out. They were loud and we love having them out every time."

The Sooners opened the match in doubles, where Baptiste Anselmo and Justin Schlageter claimed court three, 6-3, over Jackson Ross and Miguel Alonso. At the No. 2 spot, Nathan Han and Jordan Hasson clinched the opening point 6-4 against Garrett Skelly and Tomas Pinho.

When play was halted, Alex Martinez and Siphos Montsi were down 4-3 against No. 6 Alan Magadan and Sebastian Rodriguez.

The squad continued the victories with a quick 6-2, 6-3 win from No. 62 Schlageter over Danijal Muminovic at court five. Following behind, Montsi claimed court four against Tomas Pinho, 6-4, 6-4. No. 57 Martinez then clinched the Sooners' second win of the season after coming back from being down 5-2 in the second set. He claimed the 6-4, 7-5 victory over Tiago Torres at the top court.

Match play continued with No. 50 Han claiming court three over Sebastian Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3. Anselmo was next to wrap up with the 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 win against Jackson Ross at the No. 6 court. To complete the sweep, Hasson secured the court-two win over Alan Magadan in a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3) showdown.
