EUGENE, Ore. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams finished day two and three of the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., Thursday and Friday evening.
The Sooners picked up three first team All-America honors, had three second team All-Americans and five Honorable Mentions.
The Oklahoma men took 16th at the national championship, the best team finish since 2007 and sixth best in school history.
Thursday's action kicked off with redshirt senior Lauren Jones marking 219-8.00 (66.95m) in women's hammer throw to place 11th and become a second team All-American.
The women's 4x100-meter relay squad of freshman Mikayla Hayes, redshirt senior Ja'Leesa Giles, redshirt senior Camri Austin and freshman Jada Atkinson clocked a time of 44.67 for 18th place and earned Honorable Mention.
Austin, the Arlington, Texas native, clocked a 13.16 in the women's 100-meter hurdles to earn Honorable Mention in her last national championship appearance.
Senior Kristo Simulask totaled 7,457 points in the men's decathlon to become a second team All-American. He ended his time at nationals with two new PRs in long jump and the 1,500-meter run to take the 16th-place finish.
In women's shot put, junior Payden Montana marked 56-6.75 (17.24m) to become a second team All-American, while redshirt senior Abby Moore earned Honorable Mention with a throw at 53-5.75 (16.30m).
Freshman Olivia Lueking finished her record-setting season by earning Honorable Mention in women's pole vault, clearing 13-3.50 (4.05m).
Friday's action started with a first team All-America honor for redshirt junior Vernon Turner in men's high jump, where he cleared 7-3.00 (2.21m) for fourth place. Freshman Kason O'Riley also represented the Sooners with Honorable Mention in the event.
On the track, junior Richard Kuykendoll took sixth place in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 45.73 to claim the first team All-American honor.
Redshirt senior Isaiah Levingston closed out the men's competition with a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 49.20 to become a first team All-American.
