LUBBOCK, TexasĀ - The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams closed out the 2022 Big 12 Outdoor Championships in second and third place, respectively, in Lubbock, Texas, on Sunday night.Ā
The men claimed their first second-place finish since 2013, while the women took third place for the third time in program history.Ā

Oklahoma concludedĀ their time at the conference championship with five Big 12 champions, 49 podium finishes and several personal records. The men totaled 127 points and the women finished with 101.5 points.
"I'm so elated about our program's performance this weekend," said head coach
Tim Langford. "This is the best combined the program has ever had. The team pulled together and showed support in every area. I'm humbled by our seniors' leadership and our underclassmenĀ buy in. Everyone strived to make an impact and the team standings reflected their efforts."

The final day of competition opened with three Sooners taking the women's discus podium. Redshirt senior
Lauren Jones took second, marking a 185-0 (56.38m). Junior
Payden Montana placed seventh with a throw of 168-11 (51.48m) and sophomore
Paige Low marked 168-0 (51.22m) for eighth place.

In women's high jump, redshirt senior
Ja'Sha Sloan and senior
Madison Langley-Walker both cleared 5-9.25 (1.76m) to grab fifth and seventh, respectively, based on attempts.

The women's 4x100-meter relay squad of
Jada Atkinson,
Camri Austin,
Kennedy Blackmon, and
Ja'Leesa Giles clocked a 43.92 for fourth place and moved to No. 4 in school history. On the men's side, the squad of
Karson Kowalchuk,
Josh Bour,
Demarius Smith, and
Alajuwan Robinson moved to No. 2 in program history with their fourth-place finish at 38.95.

Camri Austin took fourth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.97 (1.5 wind).

Representing the Sooners in the men's 400-meter dash, junior
Richard Kuykendoll clocked a personal record at 45.25 in the men's 400-meter dash to take second.

Kennedy Blackmon saw two individual podium finishes on the weekend. Her first of the day came from a seventh-place finish in the women's 100-meter dash, with a time of 11.29 (2.4 wind). She followed it up finishing sixth in the 200-meter dash, clocking a PR at 22.91 (2.0 wind) to move to No. 5 in OU history.

Demarius Smith took third with a 10.12, freshman
Josh Bour placed fourth with a time of 10.155 and senior
Karson Kowalchuk clocked a 10.158 for fifth place.

Smith and Bour also made their way to the 200-meter dash podium with a 3.8 mph wind. Smith claimed fourth with a time of 20.04 and Bour timed a 20.10 for fifth place.

Jania Hodges clocked a PR at 59.59 for fourth and moved to No. 8 in school history, senior
Daneesha Davidson took sixth with a time at 1:00.83 and senior
Madison Langley-Walker timed a 1:04.97 for eighth.

Isaiah Levingston grabbed second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 48.82, while newcomer
Paul Martin finished seventh, clocking a 52.64.

In men's triple jump, redshirt senior
Jelaani Davis leaped a PR at 53-3 (16.23m) with a 2.0 mph wind for fourth place to move to No. 5 in school history and redshirt senior
Garry Williams took sixth with a mark at 51-11.25 (15.83m) with a 2.4 mph wind.

Mikeisha Welcome marked a 44-0 (13.41m) with a 2.4 mph wind for fifth place, while Davidson placed sixth, marking 43-5.25 (13.24m) with a 4.0 mph wind.
