Three Sooners Earn All-Tournament Honors

NORMAN – Three Oklahoma players were named to the Big 12 Women's Tennis All-Tournament team, the league announced Monday.

Anchisa Chanta was tabbed to the team at the No. 3 singles spot, while she and Dana Guzman were also selected as the No. 3 doubles team in the tournament. Alexandra Pisareva was chosen for the No. 5 singles spot.

The All-Tournament team was selected by the conference's head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Anchisa Chanta opened up the tournament with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kansas State's Karine-Marion Job to finish first for the Sooners. She also grabbed the first singles win for Oklahoma in the championship match against Texas's No. 79 Sabina Zeynalova, 6-3, 6-1.

At court five, Alexandra Pisareva didn't drop a match. She picked up her first win in the quarterfinal match against K-State, defeating Anna Turco 6-3, 6-3. She then claimed the other singles win for the Sooners in the title match, taking down Allura Zamarripa 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles, Chanta and Guzman ruled court three, staying undefeated and collecting three wins. The quarterfinals saw a Sooner victory over K-State's Florentine Dekkers and Anna Turco, 6-3. In the semifinals against Kansas, the duo claimed the 6-4 win over Julia Deming and Malkia Ngounoue. Remaining undefeated, the pair took down Longhorns Sabina Zeynalova and Vivian Ovrootsky, 6-3. 

OU (27-2) awaits their NCAA tournament destination, announced on Monday, May 2.
