AMES, Iowa – The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams closed out the final day of the 2022 Big 12 Indoor Championships in Ames, Iowa, with two individual titles and a school record.
"The conference championship is like no other meet on the season," said head coach Tim Langford. "It provides the unique opportunity for the highest competition environment that cannot be duplicated otherwise. Our teams fought event after event to prove that we are one of the best teams in this league. It was such a blessing to see the programs rise to the occasion."

OU's men's squad concluded competition in third place with 84 points, while the women's team finished in fifth with 74 points.
Junior
Payden Montana threw a 56-8 (17.27m) in women's shot put for her first conference title, while redshirt senior
Vernon Turner took home the gold in men's high jump, clearing a season best at 7-3.75 (2.23).
In the multis, senior
Kristo Simulask totaled a personal best and new school record with 5,727 points in the men's heptathlon for second place.
Following up with shot put,
Faith Ette threw a season best of 52-10.75 (16.12m),
Paige Low marked a PR at 51-5 (15.67m), and
Lauren Jones threw a 51-3.5 (15.63), taking third, sixth and seventh, respectively.
On the men's side, redshirt senior
Cooper Campbell took bronze in men's shot put, marking a 61-6.75 (18.76m).
In women's high jump,
Madison Langley-Walker cleared a 5-8.50 (1.74m) for fourth place, while Ja'Sha Slaon placed seventh with a height at 5-7 (1.70m).
Over in horizontal jumps,
Mikeisha Welcome took second in women's triple jump, marking a 43-3 (13.18m), while
Daneesha Davidson placed seventh, marking a 42-0.50 (12.81m). For the men, redshirt senior
Jelaani Davis leaped to sixth, marking a 49-1.75 (14.98).
On the track, redshirt senior
Demarius Smith kicked it off for the Sooners, taking eighth in the men's 60-meter dash finals, clocking a 6.78. Later on, he recorded a 21.03 in the men's 200-meter dash for fifth place.
Taking bronze,
Jasher Foster clocked a 7.91 in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals.
Isaiah Levingston took fourth in the men's 600-yard finals, with a time of 1:09.03, after breaking the school record in the prelims.
In the 1,000-meter run, senior
Jordyn Kaplan took fourth with a PR at 2:50.11, while
Anass Mghari placed fifth for the men, clocking a personal best at 2:23.50.
Richard Kuykendoll recorded a personal best at 46.86 in the men's 400-meter dash to take fifth place.
The women's 4x400-meter relay squad made up of
Kennedy Blackmon,
Ja'Leesa Giles,
Madison Langley-Walker and
Jai'Lyn Merriweather closed out the day for the women, taking fifth with a time of 3:40.62.
The meet concluded with a No. 7 time in program history in the men's 4x400 squad made up of
Demarius Smith,
Isaiah Levingston,
Richard Kuykendoll and
Rayvon Allen, clocking a 3:06.15 to take bronze.
UP NEXT
The Sooners with qualifying marks will travel to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on March 11-12. The rest of the squad will prepare for outdoor action that is set to take place on March 18-19 at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
