Sooners Set To Split Weekend

NORMAN - Oklahoma women's tennis closes its fall slate splitting the weekend at the ITA National Fall Championships and Big 12 Invite, beginning Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

Freshman Julia Garcia Ruiz qualified for the National Fall Championships after reaching the finals at the ITA Central Region Championships, becoming the first Sooner to qualify since Martina Capurro in 2019. The fall championships will be held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif., and action will go on from Nov. 2-6.

Garcia Ruiz will play in the round of 32 on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. CT against Texas' Marlee Zein to open the tournament.

Newcomer Romana Cisovska, sophomore Emma Staker, junior Dana Guzman, and graduate students Ivana Corley and Alexandra Pisareva will represent the Sooners at the Big 12 Invite in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State University. The tournament will take place over the weekend, Nov. 4-6.

The fall-closing event serves as the Big 12 Conference's final fall championship and includes all schools in the conference.
