NORMAN — Oklahoma's women's tennis team is set to compete in a pair of tournaments beginning Thursday.
No. 95 Layne Sleeth, Emma Staker, Alexandra Pisareva and Marcelina Podlinska are slated to compete at the Wolfpack Invitational at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C.
"This is a great event and opportunity to compete against the best players from each conference," head coach Audra Cohen said. "We are eager to continue playing and improving as we work towards the spring slate."
The four-day tournament will feature student-athletes from NC State, UCF, Tennessee, Ohio State, South Carolina, Miami, Virginia, Michigan, USC, Duke, UNC and Princeton. The full event schedule can found here.
Singles competition will be two compass draws of 32 players as well as a back draw. The doubles bracket will host 32 teams and will be played round-robin style for a total of three matches.
Ivana Corley and Carmen Corley will travel to Lubbock, Texas to compete in the ITF Lubbock 15k, beginning Sept. 25.
In OU's last outing at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, freshman Staker advanced to the back draw finals, winning two matches to advance to the final. The No. 1 Corley sisters advanced to semifinals play in the doubles bracket and the quarterfinals in singles competition.
