NORMAN – After racking up three ranked victories in the Sooners' two ranked wins over the weekend,
Ivana Corley has been named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The junior notched two doubles wins over ranked opponents and clinched OU's first Bedlam win since 2014 with a ranked victory in singles.
Against Oklahoma State, Corley and her sister and doubles partner Carmen, routed No. 55 Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Ayumi Miyamoto 6-1 at the top spot. In singles, Corley held strong to defeat No. 53 Alana Wolfberg 6-4, 7-5 and clinch a 4-0 win for the Sooners.
The Corley sisters picked up their second ranked doubles win with a 6-4 defeat of No. 30 Rebeka Sotlmar and Marie Mattel to seal the doubles point against UCF. In singles, Corley forced a third set with No. 85 Evgeniya Levashova before play was halted. The Sooner gave up the first set 6-3 before flipping the script to take the second 6-3.
The award is the first Big 12 weekly honor for Corley and the fourth for the Sooners this season.
Corley and the Sooners close out the 2021 home slate this weekend as they host Iowa State on Friday, followed by West Virginia on Sunday.
