NORMAN – A total of four OU players were named to the Big 12 Women's Tennis All-Tournament team, the league announced Tuesday.
Carmen Corley was tabbed to the team at the No. 1 singles spot, while she and her sister
Ivana Corley were also selected as the No. 1 doubles team in the tournament. OU's
Martina Capurro and
Camila Romero were chosen as the No. 2 doubles team.
The All-Tournament team was selected by the conference's head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Carmen Corley earned her highest-ranked victory of the season as she defeated No. 28 Peyton Stearns of Texas 6-3, 7-5, to avenge two tight losses to the Longhorn earlier in the season.
In doubles, No. 22 Carmen and
Ivana Corley made quick work of Oklahoma State's Lenka Stara and Alanna Wolfberg, 6-2, in the quarterfinal match. The sisters topped No. 17 Lulu Sun and Kylie Collins of Texas 6-4 in the semifinal, also good for their highest ranked win this season and improve to 6-0 against ranked opponents.
The senior duo of Romero and Capurro secured OU's doubles point in the semifinals as they took out No. 86 Anna Turati and Fernanda Labrana of Texas 6-4 in the last match on. The Sooners trailed early in that match, but powered back to tie it at 4-all and won the next two games.
The Sooners (15-6) await their NCAA tournament destination. Selections will be made on Monday, May 3.
