OU Claims 12 Wins at North Texas Classic

DENTON, Texas — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams closed out the North Texas Classic in Denton, Texas, on Saturday.

OU heads back to Norman with 12 victories on the day and multiple personal bests.

The Sooners' first win on the meet came from sophomore Payden Montana in the women's shot put. Montana threw 16.59 meters to secure the win. Junior Faith Ette finished second, throwing 16.38 meters. Sophomore Crislyn Cole threw a personal best 12.80 meters, finishing in seventh.

Senior Cooper Campbell secured first in the men's shot put. Throwing 18.62 meters. Redshirt senior Bradley Daboub and sophomore Diego Trevino went back-to-back, taking second and third, respectively. Daboub threw 17.85 meters, while Trevino recorded a personal best 17.37 meters. Sophomore Bryant Parlin joined his teammates in the top five, throwing a personal best 16.92 meters.

The Sooners' third victory came from sophomore Kayla Kurtz in women's javelin. Kurtz threw 43.83 meters to win the event.

The men's 4x100-meter relay squad consisting of redshirt senior Jackson Webb, senior Joseph Sheffield, junior Quoi Ellis and senior Demarius Smith notched another victory for their team. The squad clocked a 39.54 in the event.

Junior Symone Washington tallied OU's fifth win on the day, securing her victory in the women's triple jump. Washington jumped 13.02 meters, good for a personal best. Junior Allanah Lee finished one spot behind Washington, jumping a mark of 12.78 meters. Senior Nura Muhammad took fourth with a 12.07 meters mark.

Oklahoma swept the triple jump following junior Jelaani Davis's men's triple jump win. Davis jumped a personal best 16.23 meters. Freshman Kunle Akinlosotu lept 13.51 meters to finish in fifth place.

Senior Edward Jeans won the men's hammer throw after recording a mark of 63.67 meters. Junior Bayley Campbell took second, throwing 60.86 meters.

The Sooners secured the win on the women's side of the hammer throw thanks to senior Lauren Jones. Jones threw 61.82 meters to earn the victory. Sophomore Geraldine Udo recorded a mark of 48.63 meters to finish in fourth. Freshman Bailey Tilley made her outdoor debut, throwing 44.47 meters and earning a seventh-place finish.

Redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston grabbed the Sooners their ninth win following a 400-meter hurdles victory. Levingston clocked a 51.65 in the event. Senior Jasher Foster ran a 52.99 to finish in second place.

Junior Colleen Clancy won the women's pole vault, clearing 4.10 meters. Senior Abby Bilsbury finished in the top five with a height of 3.65 meters. Clancy's win was the team's 10^th.

Webb went on to win the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 20.83. Dale took sixth, running 21.48. Freshman Salim Epps ran a 21.63 to finish in eighth.

Sophomore Carson Hockersmith earned OU's 12^th and final win of the meet. Hockersmith took first in the women's 5,000-meter run, clocking a 18:50.69. Teammate and sophomore Madeline Medina ran a 19:09.08 to take second.

Senior Camri Austin was the lone Sooner to represent OU in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Austin clocked 13.57 to take second place. On the men's side of the event, Foster took third in the 110-meter hurdles. Foster clocked a time of 14.28.

Jones, Montana and Ette went back-to-back-to-back in the women's discus throw. Jones threw 51.94 meters to finish in second place. Montana threw 48.72 meters and Ette 46.34 meters, claiming third and fourth, respectively.

Daboub finished the men's discus throw in third place with a mark of 48.64 meters. Trevino threw 44.14 meters to take eighth.

Junior Madison Langley-Walker and senior Helena McLeod went back-to-back in the women's long jump, both recording personal records. Langley-Walker led the way, finishing in fifth with a 5.62m mark. McLeod took sixth, leaping 5.61m. Redshirt sophomore Deja Alexis made her outdoor debut, jumping 5.35m to finish in eighth.

In the women's 400-meter dash, senior Jai'Lyn Merriweather and sophomore Nia Sims finished in the top five, taking second and third among collegiate competition, respectively. Merriweather ran a 54.53, while Sims clocked a 56.38. Overall, the senior finished in third and the sophomore took fifth.

On the men's side of the race, senior Devaniel Dale clocked a 49.50 to finish in sixth. Dale was joined by junior Zac Tucker in the race. Tucker finished in 50.50, earning 11^th place.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team finished fourth, crossing the line at 46.33. The team consisted of senior Camri Austin, senior Dai'Lyn Merriweather, freshman Grace Posey and senior Ja'Leesa Giles.

Giles and Posey went on to compete in the women's 100-meter dash. Giles took second with a time of 11.59, while Posey clocked a 11.98 to earn sixth.

Ellis led the way on the men's side, taking fifth with a 10.50. Sheffield finished a spot behind Ellis, running a 10.63. Junior Kristo Simulask ran a 10.83 to secure an eighth-place finish. Davis took 12^th with his time of 11.07.

Simulask and junior Will Kubicek represented the Sooners in the men's pole vault. The pair finished in sixth and ninth, respectively. Simulask cleared 4.50 meters, while Kubicek cleared 4.00 meters.

On the track, redshirt sophomore Jordan Gledhill competed in the men's 1,500 meters, finishing in 3:59.71. His time was good for a ninth-place finish.

Junior Jordyn Kaplan and sophomore Levi Gladd raced in the women's 800-meter run, finishing fifth and 11^th, respectively. Kaplan ran a personal best 2:15.93, while Gladd made her outdoor debut with a 2:26.19.

On the men's side, senior Derek King finished the race in 1:57.24 to take third. He was joined by sophomore Graham Santilli who ran a 1:57.58. Santilli finished in sixth in his outdoor-event debut.

Langley-Walker, Austin and senior Dai'Lyn Merriweather all competed in the women's 200-meter dash, finishing in the top 15. Langley-Walker clocked a 24.70 to take seventh, while Austin's 25.05 earned her 10^th. Merriweather ran a 25.50 for 14^th place.
