NORMAN — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams are set to host their first of two home meets, beginning with the Sooner Invitational, April 16-17, at the John Jacobs Track Complex in Norman, Okla.
The meet is slated to host athletes from 10 teams. Seventy-two Sooners are expected to compete on their home turf, some student-athletes making their 2021 outdoor debut.
Friday's competition is set to begin with the women's hepathlon 100-meter hurdles and women's hammer throw at 10:30 a.m. CT. The morning will consist of field and multis events, with running events beginning at 6 p.m. Prior to running events, recipients of the cross country Academic All-Big 12 honors will be honored. Day two of competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's javelin throw. Track events are expected to kickoff at 2 p.m. Sooners who finished top eight at the 2021 Big 12 Indoor Championships will be honored prior to Saturday's running events.

NORTH TEXAS CLASSIC REWIND
Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams closed out the North Texas Classic in Denton, Texas, on Saturday with 12 victories.
The Sooners' first win on the meet came from sophomore Payden Montana in the women's shot put. Montana threw 16.59 meters to secure the win. Junior Faith Ette finished second, throwing 16.38 meters. Sophomore Crislyn Cole threw a personal best 12.80 meters, finishing in seventh.
Senior Cooper Campbell secured first in the men's shot put. Throwing 18.62 meters. Redshirt senior Bradley Daboub and sophomore Diego Trevino went back-to-back, taking second and third, respectively. Daboub threw 17.85 meters, while Trevino recorded a personal best 17.37 meters. Sophomore Bryant Parlin joined his teammates in the top five, throwing a personal best 16.92 meters.
The Sooners' third victory came from sophomore Kayla Kurtz in women's javelin. Kurtz threw 43.83 meters to win the event.
The men's 4x100-meter relay squad consisting of redshirt senior Jackson Webb, senior Joseph Sheffield, junior Quoi Ellis and senior Demarius Smith notched another victory for their team. The squad clocked a 39.54 in the event.
Junior Symone Washington tallied OU's fifth win on the day, securing her victory in the women's triple jump. Washington jumped 13.02 meters, good for a personal best. Junior Allanah Lee finished one spot behind Washington, jumping a mark of 12.78 meters. Senior Nura Muhammad took fourth with a 12.07 meters mark.
Oklahoma swept the triple jump following junior Jelaani Davis's men's triple jump win. Davis jumped a personal best 16.23 meters. Freshman Kunle Akinlosotu lept 13.51 meters to finish in fifth place.
Senior Edward Jeans won the men's hammer throw after recording a mark of 63.67 meters. Junior Bayley Campbell took second, throwing 60.86 meters.
The Sooners secured the win on the women's side of the hammer throw thanks to senior Lauren Jones. Jones threw 61.82 meters to earn the victory. Sophomore Geraldine Udo recorded a mark of 48.63 meters to finish in fourth. Freshman Bailey Tilley made her outdoor debut, throwing 44.47 meters and earning a seventh-place finish.
Redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston grabbed the Sooners their ninth win following a 400-meter hurdles victory. Levingston clocked a 51.65 in the event. Senior Jasher Foster ran a 52.99 to finish in second place.
Junior Colleen Clancy won the women's pole vault, clearing 4.10 meters. Senior Abby Bilsbury finished in the top five with a height of 3.65 meters. Clancy's win was the team's 10th.
Webb went on to win the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 20.83. Dale took sixth, running 21.48. Freshman Salim Epps ran a 21.63 to finish in eighth.
Sophomore Carson Hockersmith earned OU's 12th and final win of the meet. Hockersmith took first in the women's 5,000-meter run, clocking a 18:50.69. Teammate and sophomore Madeline Medina ran a 19:09.08 to take second.

The Sooners will continue their home-meet slate, hosting the John Jacobs Invitational, April 23-24, at the John Jacobs Track Complex in Norman, Okla.
