Sooners Sweep Wichita State, Win Fifth Straight

NORMAN — Oklahoma's women's tennis team pushed their winning streak to five matches as the Sooners swept Wichita State 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

No. 32 OU (8-2) snatched the doubles point and secured victories in all six singles matches.

The Sooners secured the doubles point after victories on courts two and three. OU's Dana Guzman and Kianah Motosono recorded the first win against Natsumi Kurahashi and Alexandra Lazarova on court three, 6-0. Martina Capurro and Camila Romero defeated Jessie Zheng and Ting-Ya Hsu 6-3 at the second spot to claim the doubles point for OU.

When play was halted, Ivana and Carmen Corley were up 5-4 against Wichita State's Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and Marta Bellucco on court one.

In singles action, Ivana Corley was the first Sooner off the court as she defeated Kurahashi 6-2, 6-0 in the third spot.Carmen Corley kept the momentum going for OU, notching a 6-3, 6-1 win over Saidhujaeva.

On court six, Motosono recorded a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Alexandra Lazarova to clinch the win.

The last three matches played out. In the No. 2 spot, Guzman defeated Bellucco 7-5, 6-1. OU's Marcelina Podlinska notched the Sooners' sixth point after winning her match 6-3, 6-4 on court five.

The Sooners' final point of the day came on court four from Capurro, who defeated Hsu 6-4, 6-4 on court four.
