Homestand Continues With Louisiana

February 24, 2021 | Men's Tennis

NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team's homestand continues Thursday as the Sooners host Louisiana at 3 p.m. CT.

OU (6-4) comes into the match off a 6-1 win over in-state rival Tulsa on Sunday. The Sooners gave up just two games total en route to winning the doubles point before racking up five more singles wins to put away the Golden Hurricane for the ninth straight time.

OU's Jake Van Emburgh was named Big 12 Player of the Week for his performance against Tulsa. After shutting out his opponents in doubles alongside Matt Rodriguez, Van Emburgh cruised to a straight-sets win over a ranked opponent to clinch the victory for the Sooners.

Louisiana enters the match at 1-5 on the season. Thursday will mark the Ragin' Cajuns' first match since Jan. 31, when they defeated UTRGV 6-1 on the road.

Thursday will also mark just the second meeting between OU and Louisiana in history. The teams' only other meeting was on March 6, 2004 in Lafayette, where Louisiana
prevailed in a 4-3 decision.
