"This was another solid weekend for the OU men's tennis program with some big wins and another big title coming back to Norman," head coach Nick Crowell said. "We've competed more than any team in the country this fall and our guys have bought into the mission and the process. They have attacked the fall season with a consistent day-to-day building mindset that will help us reach our goals this spring."

At the Big 6 Fall Invite in Waco, Texas, doubles pair Welsh HotardĀ and Alex Martinez went on a 3-0 run to secure the doubles title in the mainĀ draw. The duo defeatedĀ Arevalo/CollierĀ from Texas Tech, 8-7 (6)Ā in the finals match.Ā HotardĀ and Martinez also secured wins overĀ Sekiguchi/RiberoĀ andĀ Wallin/AzoidesĀ of Texas TechĀ enĀ route to the title.Ā Ā

"Welsh and Alex never gave up in the final despite being down 2-6," Crowell said. "That resiliency is what it takes to win at the highest level everyday. I am proud that they were able to stay strong mentally and find a way to win. We've been preaching that mindset all fall and it's fun to see that work pay off."

On the singles side of the tournament, Justin Schlageter advanced to the finals of his draw beforeĀ falling 6-3, 6-3 to Isaac Arevalo (Texas Tech).
