Men's Tennis Ready for Pair of Tournaments

NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's tennis team closes out its fall slate at the ITA National Fall Championships and Big 6 Fall Invitational, beginning Thursday and Friday, respectively.

The weekend's events close a fall season that saw the Sooners compete in six events and rack up 81 wins, including an ITA Central Region Championship for freshman Jordan Hasson.

"This weekend is our last opportunity to compete as a team this fall," head coach Nick Crowell said. "We'll send our guys to two different events and they're extremely motivated to build on what they've already accomplished this fall. We're excited to finish strong as we look toward our spring season."

Senior Mason Beiler and Hasson will represent the Sooners at the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. Beiler earned an at-large bid, while Hasson punched his ticket after winning the ITA Central Region Championships. Hasson is one of just two freshman that earned a bid to play at the ITA Championships. Beiler's appearance is the second of his college career, as he competed in the event in 2019. The two will compete in the singles draw consisting of 32 of the nation's top players.

Baptiste Anselmo, Nathan Han, Welsh Hotard, Mark Mandlik, Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter will travel to Waco, Texas, for the Big 6 Fall Invitational on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center. The fall-closing event serves as the Big 12 Conference's final fall championship and includes all schools that field men's tennis teams in the conference including Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech. In 2020, Hotard won his flight following a 3-0 weekend at the event.

"Our goal each week is to lay some more bricks and continue to build our foundation for the spring season," Crowell said.
