Five Sooners Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

NORMAN – A program-record five Sooners have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.
Mason Beiler, Jochen Bertsch, Mark Mandlik, Justin Schlageter and Max Stewart were all recognized for maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the 2019-20 academic year.
OU's five honorees tie for the most in program history and are good for the most since 2013.
This is the second academic accolade of the season for Beiler, Bertsch and Stewart, who were all first team Academic All-Big 12 honorees. Beiler and Stewart also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status in 2018-19.
Additionally, the Sooners were named an ITA All-Academic Team for maintaining a team GPA of 3.2 or higher. OU notched a 3.25 cumulative GPA for 2019-20 and recorded a 3.65 team GPA for the spring semester.
