NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team heads to the Midwest this weekend for a pair of matches. OU will face No. 46 Purdue at 1 p.m. before heading to Champaign on Sunday for an 11 a.m. meeting with Illinois.
The Sooners
OU heads into the weekend at 3-3 on the year. The Sooners will look to avenge a loss in their last match after falling to No. 29 Texas A&M 6-1 last weekend on the road. The Sooners opened the match by claiming the doubles point, but the Aggies used four singles wins to clinch the match.
The Sooners are represented in the ITA singles and doubles rankings. Playing primarily at the top spot, Martina Capurro is No. 76 nationally. In doubles Jasmine Asghar and Oleksandra Korashvili are No. 14 with a 3-1 mark.
Scouting Purdue
The Boilermakers are 5-5 on the season. Purdue enters the weekend off a 4-2 win over Tulsa in their last outing.
Purdue is set to play Ohio State on Thursday, Feb. 27 before meeting the Sooners on Saturday.
The Sooners and the Boilermakers last met in 2019 in Norman with OU coming out on top of that contest 4-2. After dropping the doubles point, the Sooners used singles victories from Korashvili, Capurro, Camila Romero and Kianah Motosono to seal the win.
Scouting Illinois
Illinois is 4-7 overall. In its last match, Illinois fell to No. 20 Washington 4-1.
Asuka Kawai is Illinois' representative in the ITA singles release, where she checks in at No. 121 nationally.
Illinois will take on No. 42 Kansas on Friday, Feb. 28, before taking on the Sooners on Sunday.

First serve against Purdue is set for 1 p.m. CT on Saturday in Lafayette. Sunday's match will Illinois will begin at 11 a.m. CT.
