NORMAN – OU alum Andrew Harris has been granted a wildcard entry into the 2020 Australian Open's main draw, the tournament announced Tuesday.
Harris, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, where the tournament is held each year, will make is main draw debut in his hometown as the first Sooner to play in the main draw at a Grand Slam. The Australian Open will mark Harris' third major appearance in the last calendar year after playing in Wimbledon and US Open qualifying in 2019.
The OU grad enjoyed a career best season in 2019, during which he slashed his ranking from No. 400 to No. 162 after reaching three ATP Challenger finals.
At Oklahoma, Harris was part of the Sooners' squads that reached three straight NCAA finals from 2014-16 and won the 2015 ITA National Indoor Championship. Harris capped off his OU career with the 2017 Doubles National Championship alongside
Spencer Papa.
