NORMAN – Oklahoma assistant coach Amy Sargeant has been selected as one of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Summer Collegiate Coaches for the 2019 season. Sargeant will work with the USTA's top collegiate players as they compete at 25k pro events.

Sargeant, who played on the pro circuit before and after her collegiate career at Florida State, will assist and support collegiate players at the Denver 25k (June 18-23) and Shreveport 15k (June 24-30) events. The goal is to provide the players with on the road support with coaching to help them assimilate to pro tennis.

Additionally, Sargeant, a native of Birmingham, England, will be the first international coach to be part of the USTA Summer Collegiate series.

Sargeant is entering her fourth year at Oklahoma after arriving prior to the 2017 season. Sargeant helped guide the Sooners to their first NCAA tournament berth in four years in 2019 while compiling their best season since the arrival of head coach Audra Cohen in 2017.

Prior to joining the Sooners, Sargeant spent a season at New Mexico as an assistant coach and two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Florida State. Sargeant played collegiately for the Seminoles from 2009-13, guiding FSU to four straight NCAA tournament berths and the 2013 ACC Championship. As a senior, she became the fifth player in Florida State history to record 30 singles wins in a season, posting a 30-7 mark, and her .811 winning percentage during her final year ranks second in FSU single-season history.
