NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team continues its homestand this weekend with No. 47 Tulsa Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 39 Gonzaga Saturday at noon.

Last Time Out

OU swept its last weekend of competition, downing Purdue (4-2) and UMKC (4-1) at home.

Against Purdue, OU dropped the doubles point but won four singles matches to close out the Boilermakers. Junior Oleksandra Korashvili played her first match at the top spot and routed then-No. 17 Silvia Ambrosio 6-2, 6-2 to earn her second win over a top-25 opponent this season.

Against UMKC, the Sooners made quick work of the Roos in doubles, giving up just two total games to do so – OU won 6-1 on court one and 6-1 at the No. 2 line to seal the point. Korashvili, Martina Capurro and Camila Romero all grabbing singles wins.

Korashvili Big 12 Player of the Week

Korashvili was named Big 12 Player of the Week for March 5 for her contributions to the Sooners' wins over Purdue and UMKC. The honor is the second of Korashvili's career after the junior won the award on Jan. 29, and the third for OU this season after Romero was tabbed Player of the Week for Feb. 12.

2019 marks the first time in program history that multiple Sooners received Big 12 Player of the Week accolades in the same season. With three Big 12 Player of the Week nods, Oklahoma has more than any other school in the conference.

Sooners in the Rankings

As a team, OU checked in at No. 34 in the most recent ITA rankings.

Korashvili jumped 20 spots to No. 40 in the singles release for a career-high ranking. Romero made her debut at No. 121 nationally in singles. The ranking is good for the first of Romero's career.

Romero and Capurro reentered the rankings at No. 75 in doubles. The duo had previously been ranked No. 51 from Feb. 6 – Feb. 20.

Doubles Dominance

OU has given up the doubles point just twice this season (against Texas A&M and Purdue)

The Sooners are 7-2 in matches when they have won the doubles point.

Korashvili and Kianah Motosono remain undefeated (8-0) on court three and have clinched four doubles points for OU – the most of any pairing.

Scouting Tulsa

Tulsa enters the matchup at 10-5 on the season and has won its last three straight matches – at Montana (7-0), Montana State (7-0) and against Purdue (5-2) at home.

Martina Okalova is the Golden Hurricane's representative in the ITA singles rankings, where she is No. 76.

Okalova and Vera Ploner are No. 14 in the latest doubles ranking with a 7-3 mark at the top spot.

Scouting Gonzaga

The Bulldogs own a 6-2 record this season and have won their last two matches against Washington State (5-2) and Santa Clara (4-0).

Gonzaga is led by Sophie Whittle, who checks in at No. 7 in the latest ITA release. Whittle is 5-1 at the top spot in singles.

In doubles, Whittle and Graciela Rosas are the No. 25 team in the nation and are undefeated (6-0) at the No. 1 line.

The Bulldogs will play at Oklahoma State Friday before traveling to Norman.

Match Info

First serve against Tulsa is set for 3 p.m. Friday. The match will be the Sooners' Hispanic Heritage contest. Free food from Chuy's will be provided while supplies last.

Friday's match will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma.

Sunday's meeting with Gonzaga will begin at noon.
