NORMAN – The No. 20 Oklahoma men's tennis team is set for two matches over the weekend, beginning with a Friday road clash with No. 11 North Carolina, followed by a meeting with No. 46 USF Sunday in Norman.
In its last contest, OU (12-4) narrowly fell to No. 9 Texas A&M 4-3 Tuesday in College Station. Jake Van Emburgh, Jochen Bertsch and Mason Beiler all picked up singles wins in the contest.
Three OU players check in to the latest ITA singles rankings. Alex Bakshi is No. 49 nationally with a 6-4 record on courts one, two and three. No. 54 Spencer Papa is 5-3 at the top spot.
Van Emburgh entered the rankings at No. 88 and has won his last six matches straight with a 6-2, 6-2 upset of No. 32 Valentin Vacherot in the match with Texas A&M.
In doubles, Van Emburgh and Papa lead OU in wins with an 8-4 mark on court one.
No. 11 North Carolina enters the match at 10-3 overall and 3-1 against ACC opponents. UNC shut out Clemson 4-0 in its last match.
Four Tarheels were ranked in the latest ITA singles release. North Carolina is led by No. 26 William Blumberg, who is 5-3 at the top spot. Blumberg has three wins over ranked opponents on the year.
No. 37 Benjamin Sigouin has compiled a 7-3 record, playing primarily on court three. Josh Peck checked in at No. 109 nationally and is 4-4 overall. No. 110 Brian Cerboch is 8-3 with a 3-0 mark on court two.
In doubles, Blumberg and Blaine Boyded are No. 53 with a 7-2 mark on courts one and two.
No. 46 USF is 12-5 on the season with a 2-0 mark in American Athletic Conference action. The Bulls will face SMU Friday in Dallas before heading to Norman.
In its last weekend of competition, USF took down Georgia State 4-3 before upsetting No. 37 Tulsa 5-2, both in Tampa.
No. 19 Alberto Barroso-Campos leads USF from the No. 1 line, where he is 14-1. Barroso-Campos' sole loss of the season came at the hands of Mississippi State's Nuno Borges on Feb. 3.
In doubles, Barroso-Campos and Pierre Luquet were tabbed No. 46 in the latest ITA doubles release. The duo is 7-4 at the top spot.
The contest with USF will mark OU's final non-conference matchup of the season.
Friday's contest at North Carolina is set for 1 p.m. CT. Live stats will be available for the match.

OU opens Big 12 action with Oklahoma State on March 29 at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
