NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set for a midweek matchup with Texas A&M Tuesday at 6 p.m. in College Station.

No. 21 OU (11-3) enters the matchup after notching its fifth straight win Saturday when it downed Charlotte 6-1 at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The Sooners opened the match with the doubles point then picked up singles wins from Spencer Papa, Jake Van Emburgh, Ferran Calvo, Mason Beiler and Max Stewart.

Two OU players were ranked in the latest ITA release. Spencer Papa is No. 62 and owns a 5-2 record on court one. No. 67 Alex Bakshi has compiled a 6-3 record on the top three courts. Four of Bakshi's wins this season have come over ranked opponents.

Calvo and Beiler lead the Sooners in singles wins with eight apiece. Calvo is 8-2 overall, playing primarily at the No. 4 line. Beiler is 8-1 with a 6-0 mark on court five.

In doubles, Papa and Jake Van Emburgh lead the Sooners with an 8-3 mark at the top spot.

Scouting Texas A&M

No. 19 Texas A&M enters the matchup with a 14-3 overall record and a 5-0 mark in SEC matches. The Aggies have won eleven straight matches with their last victory coming against LSU 5-2 in Baton Rouge.

Four Texas A&M players were ranked in the latest ITA singles release. Valentin Vacherot is No. 38 with an 8-3 mark and has won his last seven consecutive matches. No. 58 Barnaby Smith leads the Aggies in wins with a 12-1 record, playing primarily at the No. 4 line.

Hady Habib is No. 120 and is 9-1 with a 7-0 mark at the No. 2 spot. No. 121 Austin Abbrat is 9-2 on the season, playing the majority of his matches on court four.

In doubles, Smith and Juan Carlos Aguilar are 5-2 at the top spot.

The Last Time They Met

The former conference rivals last met in 2018 at the USTA National Campus. The Sooners stunned then-No. 5 Texas A&M in a 4-3 thriller, with Van Emburgh clinching the match after a wild three-set victory.
