NORMAN – Martina Capurro of the OU women's tennis team has been selected for the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Newport Beach, Calif.
ITA No. 82 Capurro was an at-large selection for the 64-player singles draw, which features teams from all five divisions.
"Marti has worked very hard this fall and she has proven that she is one of the top players in college tennis," said head coach
Audra Cohen. "I'm very proud of her for getting in to this event, but even more proud of her for her growth over the past two years. She's earned this."
The junior completed the fall season at 11-4 overall. Capurro racked up six wins over ranked opponents, including an upset of No. 13 Marta Gonzalez of Georgia at the ITA All-American.
Capurro had a wildly successful October, making a run through qualifying at the ITA All-American into the main draw. Capurro finished the tournament in the consolation quarterfinals. At the ITA Central Region Championships, Capurro powered her way to the singles and doubles semifinals.
Live stats will be available for the tournament. Singles finals will be aired on ESPN3 on Sunday, Nov. 10.
