Four on to Quarters at ITA Regionals

NORMAN – Four Sooners are on to the singles quarterfinals at the ITA Central Region Championships with Saturday wins.

Mason Beiler advanced by virtue of a 6-3, 6-4 win over Eli Ogilvy (Minnesota) in the round of 32, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 rout of Will Davies (Iowa) in the round of 16. Beiler awaits Stefan Milicevic of Minnesota in tomorrow's quarterfinals.

In his round of 32 match, freshman Mark Mandlik dominated his first set with Tulsa's Stefan Hampe 6-1 before Hampe retired. Mandlik held on for a three-set win over Diego Giraldo (UMKC), 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 to set up a quarterfinals meeting with Kareem Allaf of Iowa.

Stefano Tsorotiotis rolled past Iowa's Matt Clegg 6-4, 6-2 in his round of 32 matchup. The junior won a thriller over Evan Fragistas (Drake) to advance, closing out the contest after an extended third set 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. The Libertyville, Ill., product will face Kody Pearson (Tulsa) tomorrow.

In the round of 32, Jake Van Emburgh topped Tulsa's Ezequiel Santalla, 6-1, 7-6 (4) before defeating another in-state rival in Oklahoma State's Mathieu Scaglia, 7-6 (0), 6-1. Van Emburgh Vlad Lobak (Minnesota) in the quarterfinals.

Jochen Bertsch and Matt Rodriguez saw their singles runs come an end in the round of 16. Bertsch fell to Milicevic after three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Rodriguez fell to Minnesota's Siim Troost, 6-2, 7-5.
