OU Concludes ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – The OU men's tennis team concluded the ITA All-American Championships Friday.

Over the course of the week, Stefano Tsorotiotis and Jochen Bertsch advanced through the pre-qualifying draw to earn a spot in qualifying.

Tsorotiotis received a first-round bye, then took out Arkansas' Josh Howard-Tripp 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 128. The junior gave up just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ross Watson (Pacific) in the round of 64, then qualified by virtue of a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Max Freeman of Vanderbilt.

Bertsch advanced to the second round with a walkover. He defeated Carlos Vicente (Tennessee Tech) 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 in the round of 128, then held on for another three-set victory over Stefan Dostanic (USC), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 64. Bertsch fell to Martim Prata of Tennessee 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the final round of the prequalifying draw, but moved on to qualifying as a lucky loser.
Tsorotiotis and Bertsch saw their runs come to an end in the first round of qualifying.

Elsewhere in qualifying, sophomore Mason Beiler got a win in consolation as he took out Simen Bratholm (Northwestern), 6-2, 6-3.
