Sooners Begin in NYC, Continue in Lubbock

NEW YORK CITY — The OU track and field teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the Dr. Sander Invitational/Columbia Challenge and the second day of action at the Texas Tech Classic and Multis on Friday. The Sooners
In New York, sophomore Langdon Williams highlighted the day with his indoor personal-best mark of 24-1.5 (7.35m), earning second place in the men's long jump. Three other Sooners finished in the top-10 of that event as well: senior Greg Vann leaped 23-1.75 (7.05m) for sixth place, freshman Golden Eke jumped 22-11.25 (6.99m) for seventh and junior Jackson Webb claimed tenth at 22-4.5 (6.82m).
In the women's shot put, junior Meia Gordon also collected a top-five finish, throwing 52-11 (16.13m) for fourth place. Sophomore Lauren Jones took 12th with a throw of 45-2.5 (13.78m) and freshman Faith Ette tallied 43-10.75 (13.38m) to place 14th.
The Sooners sent three to the finals in the men's 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles. Junior Bryce Douglas crossed the line in 8.07 to advance to the hurdles finals, where he came in eighth. Juniors Joseph Sheffield and Jackson Webb took sixth and seventh with respective times of 6.84 and 6.87 in the 60-meter dash finals.
In the men's distance medley relay, the Sooners saw another top-five finish with a solid third-place performance. Freshmen Luke George and Zac Martin, sophomore
Oklahoma's day wrapped up with the women's long jump and the men's shot put. Senior Hailey Patterson took eighth place in the long jump, with a leap of 18-0.5 (5.5m). In the shot put, sophomore Cooper Campbell took third place with a throw of 58.6.75 (17.85m), while junior Bradley Daboub tossed a throw 56-4.5 (17.18m) for fourth place.
Meanwhile, over 1,600 miles away in Lubbock, Texas,
Five more Sooners will compete in the women's pole vault at the Texas Tech Classic and Multis tomorrow, with the event scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
The Dr. Sander Invitational/Columbia Challenge continues tomorrow with the Sooners returning to action at 9 a.m. CT with the women's 3K. A variety of sprints and distances races are scheduled for day two, and the Sooners will compete 15 student-athletes in the weight throws and triple jumps.
