NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team continues its fall slate at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, beginning Saturday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Martina Capurro is set for the pre-qualifying singles draw, while Jasmine Asghar and Ivana Corley will pair up in the pre-qualifying doubles draw.
The trio of Sooners saw success in their first weekend of competition at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, where Capurro made a run to the singles quarterfinals and the doubles semifinals. Corley and Asghar were the doubles runners-up, and Asghar advanced to the round of 16 in singles.
Pre-qualifying runs from Sept. 29-30 at Pepperdine University, with the qualifying draw played Oct. 1-2 at the Riviera Tennis Club. Main draw action is set for Oct. 4-8, also at the Riviera Tennis Club.
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place Nov. 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
2018 marks the fourth consecutive year that the Sooners have sent at least one player to the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, one of the ITA's four fall championship events. Oklahoma head coach Audra Cohen is one of many notable winners of the ITA All-American, capturing the singles title in 2004.
Draws will be released at a later time.
