NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team opens the fall season this weekend at a pair of tournaments.
Three Sooners are set to make their OU debut: freshman Ivana Corley, transfer Alli Hodges and spring enrollee Martina Capurro will all play their first matches in the Crimson and Cream.
Corley and Capurro will join junior Jasmine Asghar and sophomore Camila Romero at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, beginning Thursday. The event will be played at Western Racquet Club, with the final held at the Al McGuire Center on the Marquette University campus.
The competition features players from 18 other schools, including Big 12 rival Oklahoma State and regional foe Arkansas, in a 64-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles bracket. The winners of the tournament will earn wild card entries into the main draw at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship (Held Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.).
Hodges and sophomores Skyler Miller and Nina Jabrzemski will travel to Houston for the Rice Invite, beginning Friday. The tournament field includes players from 16 schools divided into flights of eight. Each player is guaranteed three singles and three doubles matches over the course of the weekend.
Live stats will be available for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
