Sooners Wrap Up Day Two in Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Oklahoma men's tennis team competed day two at the Crimson Tide 4-in-the-fall Saturday with Jochen Bertsch and Max Stewart advancing to the Crimson draw's consolation final.

The pair tallied an 8-3 win in the semifinal over Memphis' Story and Sullivan. In the final, the pair fell to Pat Harper and Preston Touliatos of Tennessee, 8-4.

Stewart dropped his first singles match in the tournament to Riccardo Roberto of Alabama, falling 6-0, 7-6 (0). Stewart will face Memphis' Oscar Cutting in tomorrow's third place match.

Bertsch rolled past Memphis' Sullivan, giving up just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1, victory in the Crimson draw's consolation bracket. The junior will face Karol Paluch of Rice tomorrow in his final match of the tournament.

Freshman Mason Beiler suffered a tight loss to Patrick Kaukovalta (Alabama), also in Crimson consolation draw. Beiler dropped the first frame after a battle, 5-7, before surging back to win set two, 6-4, and force a tiebreaker. In the 10-point breaker in lieu of a third set, the freshman fell, 1-0 (10-8). Beiler draws Tennessee's Luca Wiedenmann in tomorrow's consolation match.
