NORMAN – The No. 44 Oklahoma women's tennis team is set to host No. 13 Oklahoma State Saturday at noon in the annual Bedlam matchup, followed by No. 35 Wichita State on Sunday at noon.
The Sooners come into the weekend with a 10-7 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Big 12 action. In its last matches, OU fell to then-No. 8 Texas, 4-0, and then-No. 28 Baylor, 5-0, both on the road.
In singles play, No. 28 Lily Miyazaki leads OU from the top spot. The senior has compiled a 9-3 record on the year and is 2-1 against ranked opponents. The Tokyo, Japan, native has won her last four singles matches.
Sophomore Jasmine Asghar continues to be a force for the Sooners with an 8-4 mark at the No. 2 line. Senior Christie Brigante is 7-5 overall at the two and three spots.
Asghar and Brigante lead the team in doubles wins, owning a record of 6-4 on court one.
The Sooners have maintained a near-perfect record of 8-1 at home this season, with their sole loss at the Headington Family Tennis Center a 4-3 thriller against Arkansas on Feb. 2.
The 13th-ranked Cowgirls enter Saturday's contest at 12-2 on the year and 2-1 in Big 12 play. Their only conference loss came against No. 8 Texas, 4-0, in Austin.
Oklahoma State's roster features several ranked singles playser. Vladica Babic was tabbed No. 24 in the latest ITA release and is 7-3 from the top spot. No. 42 Megan McCray has just one loss on the season for a 10-1 overall record and a 9-1 mark on court two. Ranked No. 87, Katarina Stresnakova has compiled a record of 11-1 from the No. 2 and 3 lines. Marina Guinart is undefeated (8-0) on court four, good for a ranking of No. 96.
In doubles, Babic and Sofia Blanco are the 16th-ranked pair nationally, and have a 7-2 record on court one. Guinart and Stresnakova are 7-4 at No. 2
The Cowgirls won the 2017 Bedlam contest, 4-0, in Stillwater, and OSU leads the all-time series, 37-19.
Oklahoma State will host Wichita State Friday at 3 p.m. before traveling to Norman.
Wichita State comes to the Headington Family Tennis Center at 14-5 overall. In their last match, the Shockers took down Iowa, 5-2, at home.
Wichita State is led by Fatima Bizhukova at the No. 1 line, where she has put together a record of 8-4. Giulia Guidetti has compiled a 12-5 record on courts one, two and three, including a 7-3 mark at No. 3. Sandra Honigova leads the team in singles wins at 14-3 on courts one, two, three and four.
In doubles, Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco are 5-2 in the top spot, while Guidetti and Ting-Ya Hsu lead Wichita State in wins with a record of 10-3 between courts two and three.
The last meeting between the teams was in 2017, when OU handled the Shockers, 5-2, at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
OU owns the series with Wichita State, 53-17.
Fans in attendance at Saturday's Bedlam match will receive a free t-shirt and will have a chance to win an Apple 4K TV.
