NORMAN The No. 49 Oklahoma women's tennis team hits the road as it resumes Big 12 Conference play Friday at No. 8 Texas at 5 p.m. CT, followed by a clash with No. 28 Baylor Sunday at 3 p.m. CT.

Oklahoma

The No. 49 Sooners enter the matchup at 10-5 on the season. In its last competition, OU demolished Oral Roberts in a doubleheader, besting the Golden Eagles, 4-0 and 5-0, at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

OU opened conference action with a pair of wins: the Sooners took down West Virginia, 4-2, and Iowa State, 4-0, both at home.  

Lily Miyazaki is OU's representative in the ITA singles rankings, checking in at No. 28. The senior owns a 9-3 record from the No. 1 line, where all of her wins have come in straight sets.

At No. 2 singles, Jasmine Asghar has a record of 8-3 and is riding a five-match winning streak. Christie Brigante has a 7-3 mark between courts two and three, and the senior has won her last seven straight.

Brigante and Asghar are 6-3 on the year in the top spot in doubles. The Sooners have won the doubles point in four of their last five matches, and have won all five of those contests.

Scouting Texas

No. 8 Texas comes into the competition at 11-4 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 matches. The Longhorns are riding a six-match winning streak.

In its last weekend of competition, Texas defeated Kansas, 4-2, and K-State, 4-0, both on the road, to open conference play with a 2-0 record.

The Longhorns' lineup features four ranked singles players: Bianca Turati is the top-ranked player in the nation, boasting a 9-1 record in the one slot.

Anna Turati is No. 33 in the latest ITA release, also with a record of 9-1 between courts two and three.  No. 77 Petra Granic is 8-4 at No. 2 and 3, and No. 124 Katie Poulta is 3-0 on courts five and six. 

In doubles, Granic and Bojana Markovic clock in at No. 44 with a record of 4-2, with a 3-1 mark from the No. 1 line.

In the 2017 Red River matchup, Texas handed the Sooners a 4-1 loss in the Big 12 conference opener in Norman.

Scouting Baylor

No. 28 Baylor enters Sunday's contest at 9-9 on the year with a 0-2 mark in Big 12 play.

In their last competition, the Bears rolled past USC, 4-0 at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Challenge.

Baylor was defeated at No. 17 Kansas, 4-0, and suffered a 4-3 loss at No. 40 Kansas State over the first weekend of conference action. The Bears will face No.12 Oklahoma State in Waco on Friday.

Camilla Abbate leads the Bears in singles victories with a 12-4 record on courts two, three and four. Jessica Hinojosa is 10-2 on the year from the No. 5 and 6 line, with an 8-1 mark in the 5 spot.

In doubles, Hinojosa and Kristina Sorokolet are ranked No. 62 with a 3-5 record on courts one and two. 

The last meeting between OU and the Bears was at the 2017 Big 12 Conference Championships, where Baylor prevailed, 4-0, in the quarterfinal match.
