NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis is set for a midweek clash with North Texas on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The Sooners come into Wednesday's contest after a 4-3 win over Old Dominion last Saturday. Oklahoma clinched the doubles point before capturing singles wins on courts one, three and six to take down the Monarchs in OU's first home victory of the year and improve to 2-4 overall.
Senior and ITA No. 18 Lily Miyazaki leads OU from the No. 1 line, compiling a 2-2 record on the year.
In doubles play, Malene Stripp and Skyler Miller are 2-2 overall, with a 2-1 record on court three.
North Texas enters the match at 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in Conference USA action. In their last match, the Mean Green fell to undefeated Washington State, 4-1, in a neutral site match at Kansas State.
Junior Tamuna Kutubidze is 5-0 in singles action on courts one and two. Maria Kononova has compiled a 3-2 record from the No. 1 line and is No. 48 in the latest ITA singles release.
Oklahoma won a 4-3 thriller over North Texas on Feb. 10, 2017 in Norman. The Sooners gave up the doubles point, but stepped up in singles play to win behind Mimi Fotopoulos' three-set victory on court two.
The Sooners lead the all-time series 12-4.
