NORMAN – Lily Miyazaki added another postseason accolade as the junior was named a first-team selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team.
CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Miyazaki, a 4.0 mathematics major, led the Sooners at No. 1 singles with a 13-5 dual-match record. The junior won all of her matches in straight sets and finished the season ranked No. 32 in the final ITA release.
Miyazaki was named to the 10-member first team in District Seven, which includes colleges and universities in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Miyazaki will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third- team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
The junior was also named to the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 first team, and was one of four athletes conference-wide with a 4.0.
Miyazaki will compete in singles at NCAA Women's Individual Championships in Athens, Ga., from May 24-29, becoming the first Sooner to do so since 2004.
Times and draws for the NCAA Women's Championship are yet to be announced.
