Sooners in Florida to Begin Spring Slate

NORMAN – The No. 21 Oklahoma women's golf team returns to the course this Friday-Sunday (Feb. 10-12) for the 12-team Florida State Match-Up. The tournament takes place at the par-72, 6,212-yard Don Veller Seminole Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Florida State Match-Up is a unique tournament. In addition to the traditional team and medalist play of collegiate tournaments, it also includes a match-up title. Oklahoma will be paired with Notre Dame and will work as a team for the Match-Up Championship.
The Sooners are coming off a fall slate that showed big improvements. Oklahoma placed in the top six in all four events, including two top-five showings. Junior Hannah Wood was the picture of consistency in the fall, securing a 70.83 (-.92 vs. par) scoring average and finishing as the top Sooner in three of four tournaments. Sophomore Julienne Soo emerged as a top contender for Oklahoma, registering a 71.58 (-.16) scoring average and finishing in a career-best share of third place at the Jim West Challenge.

Julienne Soo, Sophomore: Coming off a share of 16th place at Landfall Tradition (217; +1)…Finished tied for third place at the Jim West Challenge with a 207 (-9), her lowest 54-hole score to date and the first top-10 and best finish of her career … Fired a 67 (-5) in the opening round of the Jim West Challenge … Shared 55th place at the Branch Law/Dick McGuire Invitational … Tied for 12th at the Schooner Fall Classic (212; -1).
3. Rylee Pedigo, Junior: Shared 45th place at the Schooner Fall Classic (225; +12) … Finished the 2015-16 season with a 75.00 season-stroke average (+3.19) … shot a career-best and team-season-best 211 (-5) to finish in second place at 2016 Clover Cup … Posted a career-low 67 (-4) in opening round of 2015 Schooner Fall Classic … Played seven rounds at par or better during the 2015-16 season.
4. Hannah Wood, Junior: Coming off a seventh place finish at Landfall Tradition (213;-3)…Tied for 30th place at the Jim West Challenge, where she shot 219 (+3) … Has three top-10 finishes this year: also placing seventh at the Schooner Fall Classic (209; -4) and eighth at the Branch Law/Dick McGuire Invitational (209;-7) … Recorded her lowest 54-hole score (209) at the Schooner Fall Classic.
5. FORMAT
Team will compete in 54 holes of stroke play over three days. In addition to the traditional team and medalist competition, teams will pair up for a “Match-Up” championship. Oklahoma will team up with Notre Dame and use joint scores for that portion of the competition.
