NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis continues its homestand this weekend with three matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

The Sooners are set to host Tulsa at noon on Saturday, followed by a doubleheader Sunday featuring SMU at 11 a.m. and UMKC at 3:30 p.m. CT.

Oklahoma

Oklahoma (3-1) comes into the weekend's matchups following back-to-back home wins against North Texas and Wisconsin.

The Sooners defeated North Texas in a 4-3 thriller that ended with redshirt senior Mimi Fotopoulos' three-set victory on court two deciding the match. The Mean Green took the doubles point to begin the contest, but Oklahoma fought back in singles play to tie it at 3-all before Fotopoulos gave the Sooners the deciding point.

Last Sunday, Oklahoma topped Wisconsin, 4-0, after a lineup change that saw junior Malene Stripp at the No. 1 doubles spot with freshman Julie Byrne. In their first-ever match together, Stripp and Byrne clinched the doubles point for the Sooners as OU swept the Badgers.

Freshman Julie Byrne remains undefeated on the season, extending her record to 4-0 with her match-clinching win over Wisconsin's Christina Zordani.

Scouting the Golden Hurricane

The Golden Hurricane (8-2) defeated Middle Tennesse, 6-1, on Friday, Feb. 10. Tulsa's two losses this season have come against then-No. 25 Northwestern and fifth-ranked Oklahoma State.

At No. 2 doubles, Rongrong Leenabanchog and Martha Matoula are ranked No. 59 nationally. The duo's 3-1 record includes a victory over then-No. 24 Lee Or and Erin Larner of Northwestern at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Durham, NC.

In singles play, Tulsa senior Marcelina Cichon both own an 8-2 record. Matoula is 7-1 during the spring season, playing matches at three different spots in the lineup.

The Sooners last met the Golden Hurricane on March 9, 2016, when Tulsa bested the Sooners 4-0. Oklahoma leads the all-time series record, 9-6.

Scouting the Mustangs

The Mustangs are a perfect 6-0 coming into Sunday's match. SMU notched a 6-1 win over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Wednesday night in Dallas to snap the Islanders' 25-match regular season winning streak.

Four SMU players are undefeated in singles play on the season. Liza Buss owns a 5-0 record from the No. 1 line; Ana Perez-Lopez has also won five straight at No. 3, while Dascha Sharapova is 6-0 with wins on courts two, three and four along with Mary Wright is 4-0 in the No. 6 slot.

In doubles play, Wright and Macie Elliot have complied a 5-0 record in the No. 2 and 3 spots, while Perez-Lopez and Sarai Monarrez Yesaki are 3-0 at the No. 2 line.

The Mustangs prevailed, 4-3, in last season's matchup in Dallas. The Sooners are 3-1 all-time against SMU.

Scouting the Roos

UMKC enters Sunday's match after defeating William Jewell Wednesday night, 7-0 in Kansas City. The Roos are 2-5 on the season.

The Sooners have only met UMKC once before – in Kansas City on February 28, 2016, when Oklahoma topped the Roos, 7-0.
