Sooners Shut Out Mountaineers in Stillwater

Results 
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma women's tennis team topped West Virginia, 4-0, in Stillwater, Okla., Thursday in the first round of the 2016 Big 12 Women's Tennis Championship.
With the win, Oklahoma advances to play No. 2 seed TCU on Friday at 3 p.m. CT in the quarterfinals.
The Sooners (9-13, 3-6 Big 12) began the day by winning the doubles point over the Mountaineers (6-15, 0-9 Big 12).
On court two, OU's tandem of Christie Brigante and Simran Sethi took a 6-2 decision over WVU's Lyn Yuen Choo and Paula Goetz to begin doubles play.
OU head coach Dave Mullins was pleased with the team's performance.
"We played a solid doubles point," he said. "Lily [Miyazaki], Christie [Brigante] and Malene [Stripp] did not waste any time getting us to four points. We have turned our attention to preparing for tomorrow's match with TCU. We are looking forward to doing all we can to extend our season."
The 55th-ranked duo of Lily Miyazaki and Emma Devine clinched the point for the Sooners with a 6-3 win over WVU's Kaja Mrgole and Habiba Shaker. At No. 3, junior Mimi Fotopoulos and sophomore Malene Stripp were leading, 5-2, over the Mountaineers' Hailey Barrett and Yvon Martinez when the point was clinched.
Oklahoma continued its dominance in singles play. Brigante took the first singles match on court five with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yuen Choo to extended the Sooners' lead to 2-0.
The third point came at the No. 1 line as No. 116 Miyazaki picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the Mountaineers' Barrett.
The Sooners clinched the match pn court six as Stripp defeated WVU's Mrgole, 6-1, 6-2.
