KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 9/9 Oklahoma (37-7) ran its winning streak to 12 games following a 9-0 win over Radford (29-17) in five innings Saturday at the Tennessee Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. The 12 wins match the Sooners' longest win streak since a 12-game run last year from March 22 to April 11.

The Sooners scored seven runs over the first three innings Saturday en route to their 12th run-rule win of the year and 16th shutout in the first ever meeting against the Highlanders from the Big South Conference.

Freshman Caleigh Clifton and sophomore Kelsey Arnold each tied a career high with three hits, while six different Sooners scored a run, including two each from Arnold, freshman Fale Aviu and sophomore Nicole Pendley.

Senior Kelsey Stevens is now 8-4 on the year after earning the win. She struck out six and walked one while giving up one hit in 3.0 innings. The only trouble she faced came in the first when she allowed a single and hit by pitch in the game's first three batters, but a foul out and strikeout quickly ended the threat. Stevens finished strong over the last two innings, striking out four of the final five batters she faced.

Freshman Brittany Finney then pitched for the first time since March 19 to close out the final 2.0 frames. She struck out four and gave up just one hit with no walks. Her four punchouts were one off a career high set against Western Michigan on Feb. 20. Fittingly, she struck out the first two batters she faced and then final two batters in the game.

Oklahoma jumped on Radford with four runs in the second inning.

With one out and Aviu on first base, Pendley hit a grounder to short that was misplayed by Marissa Gagliano for an error. Now with runners on the corners, Pendley stole second before senior Kady Self sent a run-scoring hit to right field. During the next at-bat, Self stole second and in the process, Pendley was able to swipe home to put OU up 2-0.

Two batters later, Arnold drop a double down the left field line, allowing Self to score. Senior Erin Miller then hit a double of her own to plate Arnold and extend the lead to 4-0. The double was No. 19 on the year for Miller, tying her for fourth in OU history. In addition, it pushed her career best hitting streak to 12 games.

OU score three more runs in the third behind five hits and two costly Radford errors.

Clifton and Aviu each hit singles with one out. Pendley made it three in a row with a single to left field that got under the glove of Hannah Medlam, allowing Clifton to score. Self added a fourth straight single and a carelessly thrown ball back into the infield eluded all Radford players resulted in another error and another OU run.

Later in the frame, sophomore Lea Wodach lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, making it 7-0 in Oklahoma's advantage.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Oklahoma added two more runs in the fifth to enact the run-rule.

Wodach and Arnold led off with back-to-back singles. Both baserunners then moved up after a passed ball before senior Tori Nirschl laced a double to left center, driving in a season-high two runs and making it 9-0 for the Sooners.

Oklahoma closes out play at the Tennessee Classic against Lipscomb. First pitch Sunday is set for 11 a.m. CT.
