NORMAN — Softball's series opener against No. 11/15 Georgia (34-14, 10-9 SEC) was bookended by historic moments as the No. 1/1 Sooners (44-6, 16-3 SEC) defeated the Bulldogs, 10-2, in six innings Friday, April 24.
Kendall Wells started the evening with a solo home run to center, her 35th roundtripper, setting an OU single-season home run record as well as the NCAA and program single-season team home run record. After
Gabbie Garcia completed a six-RBI night to finish the win, middle infield partner
Ailana Agbayani was surprised with an Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Golden Ticket. Agbayani is now guaranteed a spot in the upcoming 2026 AUSL Draft.
Oklahoma 10, Georgia 2
Wells hit an inside pitch to the garden in center for a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Audrey Lowry stranded three UGA runners through the first three innings and rolled an inning-ending double before OU created some breathing room in the third.
Isabela Emerling plated the second OU run and Garcia clubbed a two-run home run to left for a 4-0 Oklahoma lead.
Despite permitting three singles in the fourth, Lowry danced around the threat to only allow one in the fourth. The lefties continued to roll as Garcia and
Abby Dayton followed with a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth.
Georgia attempted to cut the deficit and extend the game with one more run in the sixth, but Garcia put a bow on the night with a two-run double with the bases loaded as OU won, 10-2.
