NORMAN —
Miali Guachino retired 14 of the last 15 batters she faced as the sophomore spun a seven-inning complete game in No. 1/1 Oklahoma's (45-6, 17-3 SEC) 3-1 win against No. 11/15 Georgia (34-15, 10-10 SEC) Saturday, April 25.
Kendall Wells hit a two-run home run to give OU the lead for good in the first and
Ella Parker added insurance with a solo homer to left in the third. Guachino kept Georgia to only four singles and a walk, fanning six in her 13th victory of the year.
Oklahoma 3, Georgia 1
Wells repeated what she did on Friday, homering in her first at-bat to put the Sooners up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Guachino danced around a pair of hits in the second inning, keeping OU up 2-0 through two frames.
Georgia got on the board in the third inning after Keirstin Roose muscled a single to left, moved up to second base on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a long single from Tyler Ellison.
Ella Parker got that run back in the bottom of the session, stroking an opposite field solo home run to the left field seats for a 3-1 lead.
The OU defense was flawless and Guachino was on point, retiring 12 straight between the third inning and seventh inning. She allowed a one-out single in the seventh, but bounced back with a strikeout and fly out to
Kai Minor in center to ensure the complete game.
