NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma women's tennis wraps up the regular season with a Kansas roadtrip. Friday's match with Kansas is set for 4 p.m. CT, while Sunday's match against Kansas State is set for 11 a.m. CT.
The Sooners (7-12, 2-4 Big 12) faced both teams at home last season, losing to Kansas, 4-3, and defeating Kansas State, 4-2. OU is looking to snap a five-match losing skid before beginning the Big 12 Tournament on April 29.
With a 5-3 record at No. 1 doubles, senior Emma Devine and sophomore Lily Miyazaki are ranked at No. 70 in the latest ITA release.
Head coach Dave Mullins is confident in the progress the team has made throughout Big 12 play.
“I am very happy how we have competed and played these past few weeks, but it is time for us now to translate those good performances into some wins," he said. "I feel like we have really come together as a team recently and I will be looking for us to finish off this season with some team wins and an even higher caliber of performance."
Kansas is 15-5 this season, including an 8-2 record at home. The Jayhawks are 5-2 in conference play, with wins over Baylor, Texas, West Virginia and Iowa State and Kansas State. The Sooners are 20-21 all-time against Kansas since 1975. Mullins holds a 5-2 record against the Jayhawks.
Kansas State holds a 9-11 overall record with a 1-6 mark in Big 12 play. Only two of the Wildcats' wins have come at home. Against K-State, Oklahoma is 27-12 all-time in 39 meetings. Mullins is 6-1 against the Wildcats during his tenure at OU.
"In order for us to beat Kansas and Kansas State we must combine a number of very good individual performances into four points on Friday and Sunday," Mullins said. "We cannot continue to have our points come from random parts of our line-up. I am hopeful that this is the weekend that we give ourselves a competitive chance at every position.”
