WACO, Texas – No. 14/12 Oklahoma (30-7, 6-1 Big 12) positioned itself to be the team to beat in the Big 12 once again after completing a three-game sweep of No. 19/18 Baylor (32-10, 5-3) with a 7-4 win Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.

The Sooners outscored the Lady Bears, 16-4, on the weekend. While OU only out-hit the Lady Bears 23-20, eight of Oklahoma's hits went for extra bases, including three doubles and five home runs. Conversely, Baylor's only extra base hits were two doubles.

Combining the win with a Texas Tech loss to Texas, the Sooners now own a 1.5 game lead over both the Lady Bears and Red Raiders. Baylor was picked second in the preseason poll behind Oklahoma by the Big 12's coaches.

Sophomore Paige Parker earned her third win of the weekend and her fifth straight victory over the Lady Bears dating back to last season. Entering the game with a 28.0 inning scoreless streak, Parker tacked on 2.1 more frames before Baylor ended the streak at a career-high 30.1 innings dating back to Friday night against Kansas.

Parker is now 17-3 on the season as she gave up four runs (three earned) with two walks and 11 hits allowed. She also struck out four to earn a win in her ninth consecutive start.

While Parker earned all three wins on the weekend, Baylor's Heather Stearns was handed all three losses. She was the third BU pitcher Sunday after Kelsee Selman was pulled after getting one out in the first and Kendall Potts lasted 2.2 innings.

Stearns gave up a season-high five runs Friday night and matched that Sunday. Those five runs came on six hits with one strikeout and no walks in 4.0 innings.

Four Sooners had two hits in the game: sophomores Kelsey Arnold and Nicole Pendley and freshmen Sydney Romero and Fale Aviu. Pendley had a season-high four RBI, including a three-run homer in the fifth that turned out to be the game-winning run.

In the previous two games of the series OU did not score until the fourth and eighth innings, respectively, but the Sooners scored five batters into Sunday's contest.

With one out, Romero doubled to the gap in left center. Fellow freshman Shay Knighten was then hit by a bouncing pitch, while senior Kady Self walked to fill the bases. Freshman Caleigh Clifton then brought in the game's first run with a single through the right side, putting OU up 1-0.

The lead grew to 2-0 in the third thanks to Clifton once again.

Knighten led off with a walk. Self followed with a line drive that was knocked down by Potts. However, Potts' throw to first base was wild and Knighten was able to go to third and Self took second. Clifton then delivered her second RBI with a groundout back to Potts in the circle, bringing in Knighten.

Baylor finally cracked the scoreboard against Parker in the third inning, scoring its first runs of the weekend.

Lindsey Cargill singled to right field and Jessie Scroggins followed with a bunt single. On the bunt, Cargill was able to advance to third, while Scroggins moved up to second when the throw was made to third. Shelby Friudenberg then tied the game up with a two-run single to left field.

The Lady Bears took the lead in the following inning as Sarah Smith hit a leadoff double and came around to score on a single to left by Ari Hawkins.

The lead wouldn't last long though as the Sooners went back ahead in the top of the fifth.

With one out, freshman Fale Aviu singled to center and took second when an error by Scroggins allowed the ball to run to the wall. Two batters later, senior Paris Townsend entered as a pinch hitter and was hit by the first pitch she saw.

That brought Pendley to the plate. On the first pitch she saw she cranked a three-run blast over the fence in right-center. It was Pendley's third homer of the year and it staked OU to a 5-3 lead.

Baylor got a run back in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Sooners added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Clifton was hit by a pitch to start the inning and came around to score when Aviu doubled to right center. After a popout and groundout, Pendley picked up her fourth RBI when she singled to left center, driving in Aviu.

Oklahoma steps out of conference play Wednesday as it welcomes North Texas to Marita Hynes Field with first pitch at 6 p.m. Wednesday is OU's second annual Bark in the Park event where fans can bring their dogs to the game.
