NORMAN — Mississippi State (43-19) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and didn't look back as Oklahoma (52-10) was shut out for the first time since 2019 in a 6-0 loss in the 2026 Norman Super Regional finale Sunday, May 24.
Oklahoma's streak of nine consecutive WCWS appearances concluded with the loss as OU dropped its first series of the 2026 campaign.
Mississippi State junior lefthander Delainey Everett (3-1) yielded just three hits while striking out three and walking three in a complete game during her first start of the season.
"I thought that was a bold thing to do," OU head coach
Patty Gasso said of MSU coach (and former Sooners player) Samantha Ricketts starting Everett. "But, she was cool and calm and just got us out. It wasn't a lot of strikeouts, just outs."
MSU scored in four of the first five innings, using a pair of home runs.
Kai Minor,
Ella Parker and
Isabela Emerling accounted for OU's hits.
"Sometimes when you want something so bad, sometimes it just can't come out that way," Gasso said. "This team wanted it bad. We were taking hacks, we just kept flying out. I think sometimes we were overswinging, our angle is wrong. Everybody was engaged. Everybody wanted it. Everybody was ready. They punched first and they punched good. We usually punch right back, and we didn't. They punched again and we usually punch back, and we didn't. You could just feel our press a little bit and that caught us."
The Sooners conclude the 2026 season with a 52-10 record and a 20-4 mark in Southeastern Conference regular season play, earning their second regular season crown in as many years.
